Waterloo Rifle and Pistol Club

General Meeting

12 Members Representing 9 Clubs

     Meeting called to order at 7:15 pm by Vice President John Sipos.  Pledge allegiance to the flag opened the meeting.

Minutes:
Minutes reviewed.  Motion made to accept minutes. Motion carried.

Treasurer:
Treasurer John Andrews gave a detailed report of accounts.  Also gave a detailed account on Annual Banquet, money received for advertisements, gun raffle, special drawings and Chinese Auction.   All clubs have paid their dues except FL Sports – O – Rama and Seneca Schuyler Wildlife Management.  Motion made to accept Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.

Correspondences:
SCOPE: 2008 Dues are up for renewal. Motion made to pay dues.  Motion carried.

NYSCC: Vice President John Sipos received a letter from President Harold Palmer, NYSCC, on the Jr. Hunting Bill.  President Tom Mitchell Jr., had sent him a letter in favor of the Jr. Hunting Bill.

Bass Pro: Received a letter from them and a Gift Certificate for $20.00.  Certificate must be used by July 26th.  Will be getting the fishing poles ready for the Fishing Lending Program in the Libraries.  Will see if anything is needed.

Thank You Letter:  Received a Thank You from Seneca County Manager Suzanne Sinclair.  She stated she had a great time and happy that she got to meet some great people from Seneca County. We are glad she was able to attend and enjoy the festivities with the sportsmen’s clubs and sportsmen and sportswomen of the area.

Fishing Poles:  Jack Lowery has given the Federation a huge amount of Fishing Poles that he acquired from Barry’s Bait and Tackle when they went out of business.  Jack has separated the poles out for the Fishing Lending Program for the kids and also poles that can be used for different functions.  Suggestion to use any left over poles for a raffle and proceeds to go to the Kids Fishing Program.  Motion made to donate fishing poles and money back into the Youth Fishing. Motion carried...

Waterloo Rifle and Pistol:   Bob Stevens presented fliers for the Gun Safety Clinic for 22 cal. Rifle shooting program for 12 – 14 year olds.  Programs to be offered in June for 3 Saturday Clinics.  Lessons will include 15 minutes of safety lessons, then on to 5 Firing Stations and Instructions, shooting Bench Instructions for metal targets and gradually advance into Standing Targets.  Kids can bring their parents and grandparents to get them involved in Rifle Safety as well. Bill Dadson noted that the next Women on Target Clinic will be offered in September. 

Committee Reports:
Scholarship Program:
No scholarship applications have been turned in for this year yet.  Last year’s recipient will be finishing her 1st Year of College and after she shows her passing grades to Gary Chave she will receive her $500.00 scholarship. 

Enrichment Committee:
Meetings continue with the Depot Alliance group.  Nothing to report at this time.

FWMB:
John Andrews gave a report from the FWMB meeting.  Livingston County has been added to the Rifle area for hunting.  South of Rt. 22 A is the area you will be able to use a rifle.
Yates County Fishing Tournament will be held on June 28th.
Conservation Fund – Habitat Stamp is up 5,000 sales.
Lamprey Treatment will be done in Seneca Lake the 1st Week of June.
Bear Harvest up from last year.  DEC may increase the season with more Bear sittings. 
Archery Season shortened this season.  Bow Archers are not happy.  2009 will go back to having 35 Days.
Farm Bureau states that Rifles maybe used in more areas in the coming years.

Banquet Committee:
     Barb Wells reported that we had 114 guests at the Annual Banquet.  Prime Rib was excellent and lots of Chinese Auctions prizes.  Honored Guests were: County Manager Suzanne Sinclair, Supervisors David Kaiser, Lee Davidson and David Dresser.  Senator Nozzolio presented honoree Jack Lowery with a Senate Resolution and commended him with his volunteering programs with the Youth Fishing Programs and for his Military Service Record.  We had a great evening and raised money for our various programs throughout the coming year.  Thank you to everyone who volunteered for: Selling Advertisements for the Banquet Book, Chinese Auction prizes, Selling Raffle Tickets and supporting the Federation.

NYSCC Spring Meeting:
Gary Chave reported on the Spring meeting.  As we all read, Bear #24 was caught. 
Waterfowl Season was set for Geese: Canadian and Snow Goose Season.

Resolutions:
Resolutions were handed out to club delegates that were available.  Other resolutions will be mailed out and should be voted on at your clubs monthly meeting.  NYSCC has posted notes at the bottom of each Resolution. 

Big Game:
     Region 3: Antlered Restrictions Delaware County.  This is a return Resolution 08-04 from last year. 
Bear Harvest is up 40% from last year.
Deer Harvest is up 8% from last year. 
Region 3 and Region 8 sold the most permits.
1400 Deer were tested for Chronic Wasting Disease.  No Positive Testing were found. Excellent news.
Gary Chave would like to be reimbursed for to the Spring Meeting. Shared a ride with Dennis Race from Yates County.  Motion made to reimburse. Motion carried.

Empire Farm Days:
The NYSCC will have a booth again this year at Empire Farm Days on August 5th, 6th and 7th.  Rt.414 Seneca Falls. Raffle Cash prizes will be the Fund Raiser for the NYSCC.

Old Business:
Vice President John Sipos went to the Outdoorsmen’s Hall of Fame Dinner where C. Scott Sampson and Tim Noga were inducted.

New Business:
Vice President John Sipos proposed reinstating the Finance Committee that the Federation had 8 years ago.  This would be the way all money would be approved and presented in the monthly meetings.  Appointed to that committee are: Gary Chave, DeLoss Stuck and Bill Dadson.  Ron Enslow stated that the committee could establish a yearly budget for the coming year. 1st order of business will be the postage for mailing.  Barb Wells noted that she would need postage money for the next two months mailing and then would be all set for the summer, as there would be no more mailings after the June meeting was sent out.   Motion made to pay for the postage amount after being purchased at the post office.  Motion carried.

Next Meeting:
President & Vice President Dinner at the Waterloo American Legion on June 17th. Host club will be the FL Conservation Club.  Steak Dinner will be at 6:30 pm and monthly meeting to follow. Post cards will be sent to every club, please fill in how many are coming to dinner and return to the secretary before Friday, June 13th.
