Committee Reports:

Banquet Committee:

Banquet Book Advertisements are coming in and on schedule.  All clubs need to get dinner tickets count in so we know where we stand with arrangements with South Seneca.  Your clubs can bring their Chinese Auction items to the next meeting at South Seneca on April 17th.  The rest of the raffle prizes will be picked up at Bass Pro.

Scholarship Applications:

Gary Chave reported that the schools Scholarship Applications have been mailed out to the area schools for students wanting to pursue a career in Environment Conservation.   Tom Grasek Jr. was the student picked to receive the award scholarship this year.  His dad, Tom Grasek from Canoga Springs, reported that his son decided to put a hold on college and has signed up with a Forestry Company and is on his  way to Alaska.  We wish him all the best and should be an exciting time for him.

 DEC Camps:

The following clubs are sending youths to DEC Camps this year:  Canoga Springs (2), MacDougall (1) and Finger Lakes Conservation Club (2).  All clubs will be reimbursed up to 50% for sending youths to camp.

Seneca Army Depot Property:

Much discussion has ensued on the old Seneca Army Depot, Cilion Energy Group for a Biofuel plant on depot and Seneca White Deer.  Meetings have been held in Varick and Romulus.  Also, the company wanting to purchase another 4800 acres for planting and research of Willow Cellulose, Switch Grass and more.

Board of Directors Meeting:

The BOD of the Federation had an informal meeting with Kevin Swartley from Empire Biofuels LLC.  He is Vice Chairman of this group and is connected with Empire Green Biofuels and the Cilion Group.  Meeting was held at MacDougall Sportsmen’s Club.  Discussions of the meeting and concerns were addressed.

Art Hall reported on Finger Lakes Technology acquiring 600 acres and wanting to purchase 600 more acres in Q area.

The Federation’s view is public access for sportsmen and women.  Also we would like Cilion Energy to look into leasing the land.  That way if they decided to leave at anytime in the future the land would go back to Seneca County, not to be sold off to anyone.  Of course, everyone is waiting on the impact study from Cornell.  Art Hall reports that there will be up to 118 Biofuel plants built in the U.S.

We anticipate more information as it comes available and we will pass this on to all the clubs.

Old Business:  All old business discussed above.
