President & Vice President Dinner

South Seneca Sportsmen’s Club

60 Members and Guests attended

Meeting representing 11 Clubs

Guest Speaker: Brian Dam – Outdoors man

60 members and guests attended the President and Vice President Dinner.  Everyone dined on Delmonico steaks & baked potato.  The Federation would like to Thank South Seneca for a great dinner.

Brian Dam – Has a distinguished career.  Outdoors writer and editor for NY Sportsmen magazine, Past President for NYS Big Buck Club. He is an avid hunter and fisherman.  He provided a slide show for his presentation.  He has been all around the United States including Alaska, Canada (British Columbia, Quebec), Australia, and New Zealand. He takes a major trip every year. He has tackled: Mountain Lion, Moose, Grouse, Turkeys, Caribou, Artic Hare, Wolf, Artic Chow, Bears, Artic Brook Trout, Mountain Goat, Goose and New Zealand Peacocks – they are not native to New Zealand and are considered a nuisance.  He usually flies in an old prop airplane that looks like it could fall apart at any time.  Looks like he has had an amazing time and trips of a life time.  Thank You, Brian.

Point of Discussion:

Region 7 Antler Restriction:

Region 7 is thinking on implementing a program that the antlers of a deer must be wider than the ears to be shot.  This is to increase the chances to harvest a bigger buck.

Catskills are implementing their own restrictions as well.  They have suggested a point restriction before shooting. Will hunters from Region 7 come to Region 8 to hunt deer?
