Annual Banquet

April 20, 2006

Waterloo Sportsmen’s Club

If you couldn’t attend, you missed a great banquet.  Approximately 120 old friends and new friends attended the banquet.  We would like to thank the Waterloo Sportsmen’s Club for a great dinner.

I want to thank all the Banquet Committee Members and Volunteers that made the Annual Banquet a success.  The banquet is our only fundraiser and without your support and tireless efforts we would not be able to accomplish as much as we do.  John Andrews, Karen Burlingame, Bill Dadson, Tom Grasek, Ed Mitchell, Kenny Poorman, Bill Ryan, DeLoss Stuck, Mark White. The one I forgot to thank – my husband Butch, he puts up with a lot during the four months of planning the banquet.

Dennis Money was our Emcee for the evening.  He did a great job and we thank him for it.  Vice President Gary Chave was honored at our annual banquet.  The Roast Beef and Ham Dinner delighted all of us.  Great food and great friends accompanied the evening.

Dennis Money enlightened the crowd with a story of how Gary came to America and worked his way up to Seneca County.  We all chuckled with Gary at the great story.

Dennis also paid tribute to our friend C. Scott Sampson.  He was known by many and touched as many as well.  We all miss him and think of him often.

We were happy to see our Local Supervisor’s attending.  Sharon Secor – County Manager. James Mooney – Waterloo.  Joan Teichner – Varick.  Fred Trickler – Waterloo.

Also in our attendance were our DEC Officers:  Deiter Kramer and Captain Tim Duffy both from Region 8.

Kenny Poorman and Bill Dadson had their hands full with all the great prizes for the Chinese Auction.  Clubs and members donated their prizes and everyone was amazed at the wide variety of prizes this year.

We were lucky to be able to have Chris Kenyon – Finger Lakes Times Outdoor Writer attend our banquet.  He and his wife were able to enjoy the festivities and meet some great members and people from Seneca County.  We hope they both had as much fun as we did.

Senator Michael Nozzolio and Assemblyman Brian Kolb enjoyed their evening and were able to meet with fellow sportsmen and women.  They presented Gary with a Senate Resolution that came directly from the Senate floor. Gary gave a short version of his involvement in the Federation, NYS Conservation and FL Conservation Council, Seneca White Deer and a general love of Seneca County. His wife Evonne and children, Chris and Jennifer were also in attendance.

We conducted our 1st Live Auction.  It included a print named “Mossy Oak Horns” a nice buck print donated by Bass Pro Shop from Auburn.  A print named, “Montezuma Muskrat” donated by Dave Odell.  A Wooden Fishing Lure Box donated by Togo DeBilsure – John Sipos son-in-law. And a carved Mallard Duck by Bill Hagerstone.  Kenny Poorman volunteered as the Auctioneer.

The Gun Raffle Drawings were a great success as well.    Winners are as follows:

1st Prize: Jessy Rausch – T.C. Omega Thumbhole Muzzleloader

2n Prize:  Stanley Wade - 870 Remington 20Ga. Pump Action

3rd Prize: Edna Dadson – Savage Model 93 Bolt Action

4th Prize: Pat Crowe - Binoculars

5th Prize: Dale - $100.00 Gift Certificate Brewers Sporting Goods

The Seneca County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Inc. would like to thank everyone for attending.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.  We hope you keep supporting the federation and hope to see you next year.
