Nuisance Deer Permits:

Letter written to DEC Director Sean Hanna on how many Nuisance Deer Permits that have been given to the wineries in Region 8. Discussion ensued on deer herds this year, declining hunting in area, etc. Received an article from

E. C. Officer Dieter Kraemer in the D & C from report on the deer herds in Region 8. Due to hard winter in 2002 & 2003 the younger deer have suffered. This of course has a toll on the next deer seasons. Due to the large number of deer in

2001 across the state, more permits were given out to reduce the deer in the next few years. It was also suggested that we contact Dave O'Dell or Art Kursh for DEC and have them speak at one of our next meetings. Thanks Dieter for the article.
